When she’s not supporting patients with the NHS Forth Valley Neuro Rehabilitation Team, physiotherapist Emma Forbes is pitch-side with McLaren RFC in Callander — coaching everyone from Primary 1 minis to youth rugby and helping steer the club forward as Fixture Secretary.
With over 30 years in rugby as both a player and coach, Emma’s dedication to the sport and her community recently earned her the title of SRU Caledonia Midlands Region Volunteer of the Year. She was invited to a special ceremony at Murrayfield Stadium – and even had the honour of presenting the match ball at a Glasgow Warriors game, where she also scored a signed shirt by guessing the first try scorer!
Emma shared: “Rugby has given me so many amazing experiences – locally and nationally — and the friendships I’ve made over the years are so important to me. Helping create those same opportunities for young players is a real privilege.”
True to team spirit, Emma was quick to credit everyone involved at McLaren RFC, “This award isn’t just about me – it’s thanks to the brilliant coaches, volunteers, committee members, parents and players who all make it possible.”
