Congratulations to Lynne Curtis and Derek Stevenson, who were both finalists for Pharmacy Technician of the Year award at the 2025 Scottish Healthcare Awards.

The annual ceremony recognises outstanding individuals and initiatives that have made a significant impact on healthcare over the past year and beyond.

Colleagues praised Lynne Curtis, Lead Pharmacy Technician for Pharmacotherapy, for demonstrating exceptional dedication, professionalism and compassion in leading her team. Over the past year, she has championed the development of pharmacy technicians and support workers across GP practices, ensuring they are confident, well-trained and equipped to deliver safe, effective and person-centred care.

Lynne has built robust training and support structures and made significant clinical contributions, helping to improve outcomes from medicines for patients across Forth Valley.

Derek StevensonDerek Stevenson, HePMA System Manager, was described as an innovative and highly committed pharmacy technician who has played a pivotal role in transforming digital medicines management across NHS Forth Valley. Since the introduction of HePMA in 2016, he has developed extensive technical expertise and recently co-led the system upgrade, ensuring a seamless transition that strengthened patient safety and system resilience.

Derek is also recognised for his outstanding training and support for clinical staff and his strong collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Nationally, he contributes to the Scottish HePMA Pharmacy Network, sharing best practice and driving digital improvement.

Both Derek and Lynne were joined by pharmacy colleagues at the ceremony, held at the Crowne Plaza in Glasgow, to celebrate their deserved recognition.

The event, followed hot on the heels of Scotland’s Health Awards, where NHS Forth Valley staff won an incredible four awards at this national award ceremony, run in partnership with NHS Scotland and the Scottish Government. Find out more about this year’s winners here.
