Congratulations to nine staff members based at Lochview and Bellsdyke who have successfully completed Behavioural Family Therapy (BFT) training.
Behavioural Family Therapy is a structured, practical psychological approach where a therapist works with an individual and their family to better understand and improve how they interact with one another. It focuses on current behaviours such as communication, problem-solving and how family members respond to difficulties, helping families develop new skills to support each other.
BFT offers a range of important benefits. It can improve communication and relationships within the family, reduce stress for both individuals and their relatives, and support families to work together to solve problems. It also supports recovery from mental health difficulties. Evidence shows that BFT can help reduce relapse and hospital admissions, as families are better equipped to recognise early warning signs and support ongoing wellbeing.
