NHS Forth Valley is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our medical trainees, trainers and staff at the 2026 Medical Trainee Celebration Awards. This year’s awards recognise the dedication, innovation and compassion demonstrated across all levels of training and specialties, highlighting the strength of our learning culture and commitment to excellence in patient care.
Rising Stars and Emerging Talent
The future of our workforce is in safe hands, with Foundation Doctors continuing to impress. Dr Rohaan Hameed was named Rising Star in Medicine/Surgery, while Dr Megan McKenna received the Leadership & Organisational Excellence Award, reflecting exceptional early contributions beyond clinical practice.
At FY2 level, Dr Lucy Crichton was recognised with the Clinical Excellence Award, showcasing the high standard of care delivered by our junior doctors.
Excellence in Training and Clinical Leadership
Our trainees across medicine and surgery continue to demonstrate strong leadership and technical ability.
Dr Martha Eldridge received the IMT Clinical Leadership Prize, while Dr Silje Welsh was awarded Technical Excellence in Surgery.
The Outstanding Contribution Award was presented to Clinical Development Fellow Dr Hyacinth Faune in recognition of their significant impact on service and training.
Senior trainees were also recognised for their leadership, with Senior Trainee Leadership Awards going to Dr Muhammad Iqbal and Dr Katy Frew (Medical Registrars), and Dr Leo Brown (Surgical Registrar).
Celebrating General Practice and Specialty Excellence
A large group of GP Specialty Trainees were Highly Commended, reflecting the strength and breadth of talent within primary care training. Congratulations to Dr Ahmed Mansoor, Dr George Dickson, Dr Rachel Ross, Dr Hala Mohammed, Dr Eefa Amir, Dr Sidney Zides and Dr Esmira Gajiyeva.
Across specialties, excellence was recognised in key areas of care:
- Dr Indira Kenyon – Excellence in Mental Health Care
- Dr David Dick – A&E Excellence Award
- Dr Alexa Belcheva – Orthopaedics Excellence Award
Additional trainee awards were presented to Dr Alexandra Nelson (OMFS and Dental Trainee Excellence) and Dr Qiu Ginj Kong (Anaesthetics Trainee Excellence).
Outstanding Trainers and Role Models
High-quality training depends on inspirational educators, and this year’s winners reflect the dedication of our senior staff.
Educational Supervision & Mentorship Awards were presented to Dr Alison MacKenzie and Dr Iain Morrison (Medicine), and Mr John Camilleri-Brennan (Surgery), recognising their commitment to developing the next generation.
Dr Laura McLaren received the Workforce Wellbeing & Culture Award for her role as a Staff Morale Champion, highlighting the importance of fostering a supportive working environment.
Inspirational leadership was also recognised, with Role Model Awards presented to Dr Lisa McNeil (Medicine) and Ms Elizabeth Cannings (Surgery).
Lifetime Achievement
The evening concluded with two Lifetime Achievement Awards, celebrating exceptional careers and lasting contributions to training and patient care.
Dr Isabel Scougal was honoured for her longstanding service, while highly regarded and much-loved Dr Neil Stewart received special posthumous recognition “with immense gratitude for all he did for trainees in the NHS and beyond.”
These awards reflect the strength, compassion and dedication of our people across NHS Forth Valley. From early-career doctors to experienced trainers, each recipient has demonstrated a commitment to excellence that benefits both patients and colleagues.
