Huge Congratulations to Senior ICU Nurse Gordon Devlin, who recently completed the Swissman Triathlon, widely regarded as one of the most challenging endurance events in the world.
Taking place in the Swiss Alps, the event pushes competitors to their limits with a gruelling course that includes a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile cycle and a 26.2-mile marathon. Participants also face more than 5,500 metres of elevation gain along the route, equivalent to almost two-thirds of the height of Mount Everest.
Competing against more than 200 athletes from around the world, Gordon completed the challenge in an impressive 16.5 hours, finishing 61st overall.
As well as testing his physical and mental endurance, Gordon used the event as an opportunity to raise money for a cause close to his heart. He raised more than £1,000 for The Lauren Currie Twilight Foundation, a charity dedicated to supporting people affected by vasculitis.
The remarkable achievement is a testament to Gordon’s determination, resilience and commitment, both inside and outside the workplace.
