Donna Read, Lead Respiratory Nurse Specialist and former Senior Charge Nurse for Ward B12

“Ward B12 at the time Covid-19 struck was the first ward to admit patients to Forth Valley Royal Hospital. It was a very scary and stressful time. All staff work so hard under extremely challenging circumstances. Donna was our Senior Charge Nurse at the time and showed great leadership and organisation. She ensured that she checked in with staff daily to help alleviate any anxieties and helped everyone work together to deliver a high standard of care to patients, while keeping their loved ones updated.

“The respiratory team are such amazing and welcoming people. Colleagues moved to our ward were always made to feel welcome and were happy to return to help as they felt safe in our organised and calm environment. I am so proud to be a part of this team and be their new Charge Nurse. It would be amazing if Donna and our team could be recognised for going above and beyond during this time.”

Congratulations also to runners up Kimberley Stewart, Theatre Stores Coordinator, Béla Balogh, Nursing Assistant at the Bellfield Centre, and the Emergency Department at Forth Valley Royal Hospital.
