That old adage about Christmas being the ‘season of goodwill’ is actively demonstrated by Susan Allison, a nursing auxiliary in Ward A21 at Forth Valley Royal Hospital.
Susan explained: “staff in Ward A21 had always collected for a Christmas hamper to raffle in aid of ward funds. Instead of doing this last year, I suggested colleagues donate food and other essentials to a local food bank. I also appealed to family and friends for any help. No donation was too small and greatly appreciated.
“I was overwhelmed with the kindness and generosity shown. These photos show just how much food was donated last year. As you can see my car boot was full!
“This year Christmas is different from any other year, and Covid-19 has had even bigger impact on people’s lives. This year I suggested raising money to donate and set an initial target of £200. I started by asking friends, family and colleagues and then one of my friends suggested setting up a Just Giving page as an easier way for more people to donate. The donations kept increasing and I was blown away when we reached £740 and still counting. Thank you so much for everyone who has donated so far, this really will make a difference to so many people in our local community.
