Junior doctors devised their own Healthcare Awards at this year’s trainee celebration event at Forth Valley Royal Hospital.
They set up a number of categories including one for trainees which was awarded to those “who have gone the extra mile to muck in with teamwork, show clinical excellence and humanity, and have shone as great examples of leadership and hardwork.” The winners were Lars Robertson (foundation category) Laura Hannington/Neil McInnes/Kirsty Mccoll (middle grade) and Adam Williamson (registrar).
The prize for the consultant colleague voted an excellent/inspirational teacher by junior docs went to Lindsay Reid. The Team Spirit Award was given jointly to Wards A31 and A12 and Dr Amy Baggot won the award for outstanding contribution during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Hospital Morale Booster award was collected by Craig Holland, who was on duty at the back door of the hospital and handed out masks and hand gel with a smile to those coming into work.
Medical Director Andrew Murray introduced the event thanking the junior doctors, chief registrars and consultants for their contribution, particularly people who were redeployed and also those who covered the Covid-19 assessment hub and helped enormously with service pressures.
And from Dr Nick Barwell, consultant physician for diabetes and endocrinology, there was an inspirational presentation saying how proud he was of the trainees for all their hard work and keeping the consultants young!
Teas, coffee and cup cakes rounded off the day of celebrations.
