There can’t be many people in NHS Forth Valley who haven’t met, or don’t know of our colleague Dorothy Bell-Sneddon, who has led the Occupational Health Service for many years and is a whizz at vaccinations!
Dorothy retired in September 2021 after starting her career with Forth Valley Health Board as a staff nurse in the A&E department at the former Stirling Royal Infirmary. She was then promoted to Senior Staff Nurse and, after a period in that role, moved to the Occupational Health Service as a Nurse Advisor.
Dorothy then left the NHS for a short time before returning in 1995 as Occupational Health Team leader.
She reflects: “It has been an absolute pleasure to work in Occupational Health and be able to care for all our hardworking NHS staff. In my retirement I will be a lady who lunches, plays golf and helps out with the immunisation programmes.
“I will miss everyone so much. I have been a nurse for 43 years, but the time has just flown by and I can’t believe it is now time to go and use my bus pass!”
Dorothy left with an array of beautiful gifts which included jewellery, a spa voucher, gin glasses, a variety of gins, champagne, prosecco and lots more. She joined the Occupational Health team for dinner and says she also had a fabulous night out on the Maid of the Forth with the Forth Valley Nurses choir and other colleagues.
