The Art of Motion

163

The latest art to grace the walls of Forth Valley Royal Hospital has been curated by students from Larbert High School together with Artlink Central.

The selected pieces by Alan Davie, Eduardo Paolozzi, Lys Hansen, and Alastair Mack, focus on the theme of ‘being’ and ‘motion’, explored in a playful and abstract manner.

In the words of the students involved in the curatorial process: “This collection of semi-abstract, contemporary art brings together a vibrant, colourful approach and understanding of the human condition. These pieces feature an energetic variety of shapes and linear patterns which convey the narrative of each work. The whimsical nature of each composition creates a playful, thought-provoking collection that alludes to themes of family, heritage and sense of place.

All the pieces displayed as part of this exhibition are on loan from the Art in Healthcare Collection. Over the last thirty years Art in Healthcare has worked, often in partnership, to improve health and wellbeing for individuals and communities by providing opportunities to experience and engage with high quality visual art, artists and creativity.

Since 1991, when the organisation was originally affiliated to Paintings in Hospitals, they have been locating their collection of significant and valuable contemporary visual art in health and social care settings throughout Scotland to make the environments more friendly, welcoming and stimulating for patients, visitors and staff.
