Double Thanks To Neonatal Unit

2014

For two little sparklers – twins Nellie and Nora, the 5th of November is a very special day.

This was the day the pair were discharged from the neonatal unit at Forth Valley Royal Hospital after a month of special care. The family celebrated a year later by going back to the Unit to say hello to local staff and hand over £550 raised by a sponsored walk.

The girls, Nellie at 3lb 4ozs and Nora at 3lb 9ozs, were born at 32 weeks by emergency section in October 2021 at Wishaw Hospital and then transferred to Forth Valley Royal Hospital for neonatal care.

Mum, Natalie Clinton, said: “The girls were quite poorly from the moment the babies arrived at the unit the staff were so lovely, so reassuring and so kind. They were always there for the girls and for all of us and became aunties for the twins.”

Nora is named for her father’s granny who passed away. Nellie was chosen by Natalie because she just liked the old-fashioned name.

Reflecting on going back the Neonatal Unit one year after the babies were finally discharged home, Natalie reflected: “It was quite emotional. I imagined that the staff would probably not remember us but we could remember them – there is no way we can ever forget them.”
