Well done to everyone who took part in this year’s Winter Walking Step Count Challenge.
Collectively the teams clocked up a total of 165,113,704 steps – an amazing total which is roughly equivalent to 73,576 miles or more than twice round the equator!
The Winning Teams were:
- 1st place – The Scrambled Legs with a phenomenal 4,020,879 steps
- 2nd place – The Estates Walkaholics with a whopping 3,561,772 steps
- 3rd place – Ochi’ll just be a minute with an incredible 3,436,500 steps
Bo’ness Rehab, The Fannie Pack, and Get your Gump on all posted great totals and will receive a delivery of Step Count Challenge merchandise to support their continued walking efforts.
Step Count Champion
People were asked to nominate someone who they thought had gone the extra mile during the challenge, had motivated their team or made an extra personal effort to walk a little more.
It was a very difficult decision the Step Count Champion is Walter Gibb who was nominated by Samantha Kilpatrick, Julie Bruce and Colin Russell who said the following:
“From day one Walter set the pace and achieved a phenomenal number of steps. This pushed the rest of the team to try and keep up, clocking up more steps than maybe we would have. I know Walter has had many late night walks, racking up as many steps as he could before giving his tired (and sometimes blistered) feet a rest before doing the same again day after day. Walter has been an inspiration to our team, arranging team walks and keeping everyone pushing over the weeks, he is our Step Count Champion.”
“He went above and beyond each week motivating our team and arranging walks, including coffee breaks. Not to mention the amount of steps he has done throughout the challenge. He really deserves to be the winner.”
“Walter every day went that extra mile to make sure he got his steps in for our team. He went out in every weather condition, had a packet of blister plasters in his pocket so not even blistered feet stopped him. We all did really well as a team but Walter is our Step Count Champion for sure.”

Thank you to all the teams who entered a photo in the competition. Congratulations to Sons Of Pablo! Their creativity in adapting their team photo to include a member who couldn’t be there in person brought smiles to the faces of the judges.
