Nursing and AHP staff, Health and Social Care staff and acute managers came together at Forth Valley College in October to learn more about Discharge without Delay (DwD) and their part to play in it.
The day began with an overview of DwD and why it’s important, and highlighted some of the tried and tested techniques to be used.
Speakers from a range of services shared how they help support the discharge planning process to ensure that delays are minimised and patients are supported on their journey.
The day finished with Dr Julie Mardon, Clinical Director of the Scottish Centre Simulation and her colleagues delivering simulated workshops on Daily Dynamic Discharge and dealing with difficult conversations.
A delegate from the day said: “It was a very informative, interactive day with lots of discussion. It was highly beneficial to hear other people’s experiences and those of other areas and AHP staffs. I‘ll be recommending all my staff attend.”
Another added: “The simulated sessions were brilliantly interactive with great discussion.”
Following the success, another DwD Development Day is being planned. To stay informed about future dates, please complete the link below.
