The Cardiology Department recently said goodbye to much loved colleague Dr Allister Hargreaves who retired after 27 years with NHS Forth Valley, initially at the former Falkirk and District Royal Infirmary and then Forth Valley Royal Hospital.
Described as clever and compassionate, a scholar and a gentleman, who treated both staff and patients with the utmost respect and kindness.
Colleagues also highlighted his role as a great trainer who was kind and supportive to junior doctors who worked in the department. Everyone who knew and worked with him said he will be sadly missed but wish him all the best for his retirement although many commented that he looks far too young to retire!
Below are just some of the many messages posted by colleagues old and new on social media.
“Tremendous doctor and a colleague with integrity, care and compassion who could be trusted. Will be a massive loss to NHS Forth Valley. Enjoy your retirement Allister.”
