A Magical Find

Yes, Book Fairies do exist!

Here in Forth Valley living proof of their magic was evidenced with the recent discovery of special copies of the book Hold Still which were left at Forth Valley Royal Hospital, Falkirk Community Hospital and Camelon Clinic.

Hold Still was a photography project launched by the Duchess of Cambridge in May 2020 during the first national lockdown. In partnership with the National Portrait Gallery she encouraged people to document the world as it was in the pandemic, with photos going into three categories – helpers and heroes, your new normal and acts of kindness. From the 31,000 pictures submitted a collection of 100 were selected for the book.

The Duchess then agreed become a ‘book fairy’ and hide 150 volumes across the UK. Each copy is adorned with a gold book fairy sticker, gold ribbon and has a letter from the Duchess tucked inside.

The books found in the Falkirk area are dedicated to all the truly incredible staff at NHS Forth Valley who have worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic and taken such good care of so many of us during these worrying times.
