A Trip Down Memory Lane for Local Midwives

Local Midwives

Midwives in Forth Valley not only celebrated the International Day of the Midwife on 5th May 2021 with goody bags and cup cakes, but there was also the opportunity to see some graduation photographs from yesteryear!

Due to Covid-19 it was not possible to hold celebratory events in person, but the kindness and joy showed by the profession was shared across social media.

Head of Midwifery, Gillian Morton, said that despite the pandemic, the level of care had continued to be outstanding and she wished to thank all midwives, midwifery leaders and midwifery managers for the way they had been there for both patients and staff, often in very difficult circumstances.

The International Day of the Midwife was first celebrated in 1991, and has since been observed in over 50 nations around the world.
