Our very own Head of Estates, Andrew McGown, recently capped off his football career in unforgettable style – helping Steins Thistle to a 3-1 victory over FC Pather in the Scottish Amateur Cup Final.

It’s a historic achievement, marking the first time in over 40 years that a team from the Falkirk or Stirling area has won the coveted trophy.

“It was a great night and very emotional,” said Andrew. “To come away 3-1 winners in a Scottish Cup Final is something really special.”

The moment was made even more meaningful as Andrew walked out onto the pitch with his son as mascot and his proud parents watching from the stands.

“It was very emotional having my parents there and sharing the moment with my son,” he added. “It’s something we’ll never forget.”

Andrew spoke highly of the club and its community spirit. “Steins is a great club. The committee and players are a really closeknit group – it’s a very family-oriented club, and that’s what makes nights like that even more special.”

With the cup now secured, Andrew has decided to hang up his boots on a high. “It’s the perfect way to finish. A fantastic night and a memory I’ll carry forever. Time to hang up the football boots for good now!”
