NHS Forth Valley has retained its silver award in the Armed Forces Employer Recognition Scheme. The accolade has been renewed for a further five years and demonstrates a commitment to supporting the armed forces.

In a letter of congratulation received by Consultant Haematologist, Dr Roddy Neilson, also a Colonel in the Defence Medical Services Reserves and Consultant Adviser to the Army in Haematology, the scheme’s organisers stated: “Thank you for all you are doing to support our service personnel, veterans and their families. Your help is very much appreciated and will, I hope, continue and grow over the next five years.

“Achieving a Silver Award is a significant achievement in its own right. Revalidating your Silver Award signifies the provision of a high level of support across the Defence People agenda. However, successful revalidation demonstrates that you have continued to deliver that support over a five-year period and that you are committed to do so into the future.”

Dr Neilson commented: “This is excellent recognition of NHS Forth Valley which has shown ongoing support for the serving military personnel and veterans resident in the area. It shows that NHS Forth Valley is committed to providing care to all individuals who serve or have served and whose medical needs are related to their service.”
