Ashleigh’s Half Marathon Tribute

Ashleigh Paterson

Ashleigh Paterson, a nurse at Tillicoultry Medical Practice, laced up her trainers and took on the Alloa Half Marathon in memory of a close friend who tragically died by suicide.

What began as a personal tribute quickly became a powerful campaign — raising over £2600 (smashing her original £250 target) for SAMH, the Scottish Association for Mental Health.

Ashleigh said: “Brad was an incredible person, and his loss has left a hole in the hearts of everyone who knew him. Mental health struggles are often invisible, and stigma can stop people reaching out. Every step I took during that run was for Brad — and for everyone battling in silence.”

Ashleigh completed the 13.1-mile race in 2 hours and 17 minutes, driven by a mission to honour Brad’s memory and help start conversations about mental health.

“Thank you to everyone who supported me. Together, we can break the stigma and make sure no one feels alone.”
