Compassionate and Caring Heather Retires

Described by her colleagues as a compassionate and caring manager, Integrated Mental Health Team Manager, Heather Tainsh, has retired from NHS Forth Valley after 37 years, all of which were spent in the Forth Valley area.

Heather worked in a variety of departments during her long career and latterly was responsible for developing community mental health services across Clackmannanshire and Stirling.

She began her training in May 1985 at the former College of Nursing in Callendar Park, Falkirk at the age of 17 and a half, and worked on the Bellsdyke site for a couple of years. Then she transferred to the elderly ward at the former Clackmannan Community Hospital before moving to a community team in 2002. Whilst raising her family, Heather worked part time before becoming a community psychiatric nurse in 2014. This was followed by an appointment as deputy charge nurse in the day unit and subsequently Senior Charge Nurse.

Staff say Heather cared a great deal about her colleagues and took pride in her work and will be greatly missed. She plans to spend her retirement with her family which includes three grandchildren, and also plans a few holidays.
