Adaptations to existing medical equipment at Forth Valley Royal Hospital saw 35 anaesthetic machines converted to ventilators.
This has increased the hospital’s capacity six-fold. An ultra-pure water supply system was also installed in the ICU to provide renal dialysis for patients with Covid-19. The drive, which was spearheaded by NHS Forth Valley’s medical physics department, involved medical physicists, technicians and clinicians working round the clock with the support of Serco colleagues to complete the changes in record time.
