Two ‘weel kent’ faces in the Falkirk community have hung up their nurses uniforms and headed into retirement.
Sister Angela McVeigh, district nurse for the Westburn, Carron and Ark practices left after 38 years service with the NHS. Angela, who is taking time to chill before deciding what to do next, has helped thousands of patients, many requiring palliative care, and has been a great support to their families.
She was presented with a doll with a tailor-made nurse’s uniform and a cushion with details of her years of service. She also received a financial gift and a memory book.
It was also time to say farewell to Christina Smith (pictured top), a community staff nurse at Camelon Clinic.
Christina retired after 23 years and will be greatly missed by colleagues and patients alike.
