FAST Work by Stroke Team

Amy McDonald, Stroke Specialist Nurse and volunteers from the Stroke Association took to the road recently to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of stroke as part of ongoing work to promote the FAST campaign.

This included organising a drop-in session at the Thistle Centre in Stirling to chat to members of public, distribute information and promotional items to highlight the importance of recognising and reacting to signs of stroke quickly.

Our Stroke Specialist Nurses Amy McDonald and Lindsay Noonan also organised displays at the Bellfield Centre and Forth Valley Royal Hospital to promote World Stroke Day which took place on 29th October 2022. They handed out information and talked to local patients, visitors and staff who kindly donated money for the Stroke Ward fund despite the team insisting that it was a free campaign!

Thanks to everyone who took the time to speak to Amy and Lindsay who were very grateful for the support they received.

FAST is a simple way to recognise the signs of stroke 👇

👤FACE – Can the person smile, does one side of their face droop?
💪ARM – Can they lift both arms? Is one weak?
💬SPEECH – Is their speech slurred or muddled?
TIME – If ANY ONE of these symptoms are present, call 999.
