Our Stroke Specialist Nurses and B21 Stroke Ward team marked this year’s World Stroke Day with a series of events aimed at raising awareness, educating the public and supporting two vital charities.
Fundraising
In October 2025, Stroke Nurse Lindsay Noonan and Healthcare Support Workers Anne Rennie and Jodie Fish held a cake sale and raffle in Ward B21, raising an impressive £1,140. The funds were shared between The Stroke Association and Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland, both of which provide essential education, resources and support to the team.
The raffle was generously supported by many local businesses across Forth Valley including: The Kelpies, Falkirk Wheel, Wallace Monument, Donald Corbett Jewellers, Thomas Johnston Butchers, Deanston Distillery, Kinnaird Butchers, Three Little Pigs, The Lonely Broomstick, Blair Drummond Safari Park, The Plough and Canada Wood.
Raising Awareness
Two public events were held at Forth Valley Royal Hospital and the Bellfield Centre to raise awareness of the F.A.S.T. campaign (Face, Arm, Speech, Time). Stroke Nurses Lindsay Noonan (FVRH) and Amy McDonald (Bellfield Centre) provided lifesaving advice and information to visitors and members of the public. They were supported by fantastic volunteers from The Stroke Association (Jolene, Nicola, Elaine, Ruth and Neil) whose help was greatly appreciated.
The Wallace Monument and the Kelpies were lit up purple to show support for World Stroke Day and Amy McDonald also visited the Thistles Centre in Stirling to raise awareness of Stroke symptoms and speak direct to members of the public.
