The Psychological Therapies team, who are based at the Bungalows in Larbert, received a Covid-19 response grant in October 2021 to help build a new garden area to support wellbeing.
Linda McAuslan, Lead Nurse Psychological Therapies / APTs Manager, explained: “We know that outdoor areas can impact positively on mental health and wellbeing due to the sensory nature of the outdoors. Gardening is known to reduce stress, anger and symptoms of anxiety and depression.
“The garden, which is currently in full bloom, also helps patients to feel less anxious before and after appointments for trauma treatment for PTSD / complex trauma. It also provide an area for staff to use and both staff and patients help to maintain the garden which they really enjoy.”
