Paul Ginnell, Nurse Team Leader with the Community Mental Health Team for Older Adults has retired after working in mental health services in both Scotland and Down Under.
His career spans from training at Bellsdyke Hospital to working on the wards before he took the opportunity to move to sunnier climes and take up a post at the Princes Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane where he worked as a mental health staff nurse before being promoted to deputy charge nurse.
Paul worked in Australia for over ten years but sadly, due to a family illness, returned to Scotland where he picked up his career at the former Kildean Hospital. Australia’s loss was definitely our gain as Paul then moved to work with the Community Mental Health Team for older adults at Stirling Community Hospital where he spent a long and varied career as a Community Psychiatric Nurse before taking up the post as Nurse Team Leader and then stepping up to the role of acting Nurse Manager for a period before his recent retirement.
Paul received many lovely gifts and well wishes from colleagues and is planning to spend his retirement travelling, barbecuing and generally enjoying his free time with his partner Christine who he said is sure to keep him busy with all those DIY jobs he didn’t manage to get around to doing! Paul’s colleagues wish him the best of luck for the future and said he be much missed.
