Podiatrist Shona retires after 20 years

Shona Petrie came to the profession late after previously working as an auxiliary nurse at the former Orchard House Hospital in the 1980s and as a carer in nursing homes during the 1990s.

After qualifying as a podiatrist, Shona initially worked at Callander Medical Practice and Killin clinic, covering the area all the way to Crianlarich and Tyndrum for home visits.  However, her passion was for all things musculoskeletal and biomechanics.

She was instrumental in getting the paediatric joint physiotherapy clinics set up then continued to run the podiatry paediatric clinics at Stenhousemuir Health Centre. Shona also established the Occupational Health podiatry service and her expertise and dedication to her profession will be greatly missed.

To mark her retirement her colleagues presented her with a photo book of messages, a gift of money, a retirement survival kit and gardening items as she’ll now have more time to spend on gardening, one of her many hobbies.
