Psychological Therapy Team Put Their Best Foot Forward

Notching up more than 5 million steps during October and November 2020 earned an NHS Forth Valley team fifth place out of 535 teams taking part in a national Step Count Challenge 2020. The team, from Adult Psychological Therapies, comprised Linda McAuslan, Ivor Smith, Jennie Young, Martha McLachlan, Gill Fleming and Linda Crothers and at one stage the team ended up having to call on a substitute after one of them contracted Covid-19!

This was their third step challenge in a year having come 3rd out of 70 in the Rock the Walk Challenge where they clocked up over 1.7 million steps. They also walked over 2.5 million steps in the summer 2020 Step Count Challenge. Their next challenge is entering the Step Together Challenge that runs for 8 weeks in January 2021 where they are aiming to come first.

One of the team members, Gill Fleming, said their recent 5,703,613 steps was an amazing result from a team who sat down most of the working day and they owed a huge thank you to Ivor Smith who is a runner. Those taking part also found the step challenge had benefited their mental wellbeing and bonding as a team, when redeployed during the Covid-19 pandemic.
