Hazel Neil was a joint recipient of the Random Act of Kindness Award 2022, from Queen Margaret University this month.
This award recognises an act of kindness, which is triggered by altruism and kindness. Hazel is a School Nurse who helps support school nursing trainees in her daily practice.
Hazel was nominated by Clinical Practice Assessor/Team Lead, Shona Hinton, who described Hazel as “a kind and thoughtful person who makes the office a nicer place to be. She is understanding of the pressures our trainees are under, with the competing priorities of academic and practice learning. Hazel is the office baker, and when she is aware that the trainees are under the most strain, miraculously a home baked cake appears (gluten and dairy free to meet the dietary needs of our trainees – a truly person-centred approach!) along with a cup of tea and a listening ear.
Recently Hazel arranged a raffle to raise funds for one of her schools, and collected donations, sold raffle tickets and put together 2 beautifully presented hampers. Hazel is a fantastic role model for the trainees to aspire to, and we are lucky to have her in the team.”
Hazel will receive a £50 prize and trophy as her well-deserved prize.
