The Renal Unit recently celebrated 25 years since opening in Forth Valley. The original Unit, which was based at the former Falkirk and District Royal Infirmary, opened in 1999.
Things have changed a lot in this time but one thing that hasn’t is the fantastic service which the team provides to local patients from across Forth Valley who require dialysis.
Sally Morgan, Senior Charge Nurse, Renal Unit, Forth Valley Royal Hospital, said: “In 1999 we had 6 patients to start with. Today we have 110 patients who attend for dialysis three times a week at Forth Valley Royal Hospital.
“We started with three staff who were trained in renal services, the rest were trained with education and team building days in Falkirk Community Hospital.”
