NHS Forth Valley was very much to the fore at the recent NHS Scotland event in Aberdeen with 10 posters showcasing a wide range of projects.
This included a poster highlighting an innovative local scheme to return and re-use walking aids which won in the category of Value and Sustainability.
The poster was submitted by physiotherapists Nicola Blair and Aileen Kelly, who started the scheme, and fought off stiff competition from 23 other posters in this category
Our Primary Care Team were also selected from 95 applicants to present as one of 10 parallel sessions. Around 150 delegates heard about our local experiences of implementing the new GP contract, the benefits of extending the team of healthcare professionals working within local GP Practices and Covid-19 recovery.
Over the past 4 years, more than180 additional healthcare professionals have been employed to work as part of the general practice team in all 50 of our local GP Practices. These include physiotherapists, mental health nurses, pharmacists and healthcare support workers and link workers, who are providing more than 250,000 contacts and consultations annually.
Staff from Women and Children’s Services also gave a presentation on the work carried out to support women who have experienced sexual trauma while they cervical screening and provide responsive support for any follow up treatment.
