Each month, our Stroke Unit at Forth Valley Royal Hospital proudly features a new presentation or display at the entrance to Ward B21. These displays focus on a variety of stroke-related topics and are designed to provide helpful information to both staff and visitors. We welcome suggestions from staff, patients, and families for future topics.
Recently the Unit highlighted two important services which support stroke patients in their recovery journey:
START (Stroke Transition and Rehabilitation Team)
The START team plays a vital role in delivering short-term therapy services within a home environment. Their work supports patients’ discharge from hospital, promoting assessment and rehabilitation at home, and facilitating a smooth transition from hospital care to home care.
NRT (Neuro Rehabilitation Team)
The NRT, formerly part of ReACH, offers specialist multidisciplinary assessment and rehabilitation for individuals aged 16 and above who are living with neurological conditions. This team provides tailored support for patients as they embark on their personal recovery and rehabilitation plans.
The displays featured valuable advice and contact details for both teams, providing important information on how patients and families can access these services. Staff within the Stroke Unit would like to encourage colleagues to take a moment to visit the display and learn more about the support available to local stroke patients.
They are also open to suggestions for future topics and look forward to continuing to share helpful resources for staff, patients and their families.
