Two members of staff working with our local Test and Protect team were both taken by surprise when their babies arrived early over the festive period.
First to make an appearance was Niamh Gibson, who was welcomed into the world on Christmas Day rather than her due date of 6th January 2022. Mum Abigail Gibson usually works as a dental nurse with our public dental service but worked with Test and Protect for four weeks before her maternity leave.
Reflecting on her time in hospital Abigail, said: “The staff did everything they could to support us. There were tiny Santa hats for the babies and we received a lovely pink knitted Christmas blankets and gifts which was very kind. Christmas is certainly going to be a busy time in the future but it’s lovely.”
Contact tracer Maegan McIntosh wasn’t expecting her first baby to arrive until the 28th January 2022 but baby Harris David Wood ended up being born on New Year’s Day.
Maegan explained: “We went in on December 30 not expecting to be at the hospital for long but they discovered that his stomach wasn’t developing properly. I was told I would have to come in straight away and stay until the baby was born which was a complete shock!”
“The staff have been amazing and couldn’t have done enough for us. We can’t thank them enough.”
