Tackling the Kiltwalk for Claire

186

A team of nurses from Forth Valley Royal Hospital will be lacing up their walking boots this September to take part in the Mighty Stride Kiltwalk in Edinburgh on Sunday 14 September 2025.

When the team signed up back in May, they chose Sepsis Research FEAT as their charity – a cause close to their hearts, given how often they see the devastating impact of sepsis in their day-to-day work.

Since then, the walk has taken on an even deeper meaning. The team recently and very sadly lost their dear colleague and friend Claire McCormack, who passed away after a short battle with sepsis.

Claire was an exceptional nurse and a larger-than-life personality. She was loved by her family, friends, colleagues, students, patients and their families. Through her care, kindness and warmth she touched the lives of so many and left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Walking the Kiltwalk is now not only about raising vital funds for sepsis research but also about celebrating Claire’s life and legacy.

The team shared: “Claire was the most amazing nurse, and she made everyone feel seen and cared for. This walk is our way of honouring her memory and helping to support research that could save lives in the future.”

Colleagues across NHS Forth Valley can support the team by donating to Sepsis Research FEAT and help create a fitting tribute to Claire – an inspiring nurse, colleague and friend.
