David takes on Running Challenge for Neurological Support

19

This June, David Thomson from our Neurology Department is lacing up his running shoes for an impressive personal challenge – all in support of a cause close to his heart.

David is taking part in what he calls a ‘Junathon’ – running 5km every day throughout the month of June to raise funds and awareness for Neuro Central, a local charity supporting people living with neurological conditions, as well as their families and carers.

Explaining his motivation, David said: “It’s that time of year to put my body through a variety of aches and pains. I’m doing a 5k run a day challenge in June to raise some funds for Neuro Central. I’m also a trustee with the charity, and a big bonus of doing this is helping to raise awareness of the group.”

Neuro Central provides vital support across Central Scotland, offering guidance, community connections and practical help to those affected by neurological conditions. The charity is well known to the team at Forth Valley Royal Hospital, with Neurology colleagues regularly referring patients and their families for additional support.

David’s efforts also build on a strong tradition of fundraising within the Neurology team, who have previously organised sponsored walks and bake-offs to support the charity’s work.

By taking on this month-long endurance challenge, David is not only raising funds but helping to shine a spotlight on the importance of ongoing support for people living with neurological conditions.
