Congratulations to three of our Nutrition and Dietetic staff who have achieved a pass in the Royal Society for Public Health Level 4 Award in Nutrition.
Ellen Cowie, Shona Davies (above) and Donna Rodgers worked hard to complete their lengthy assignments during lockdown. Extra kudos is deserved for managing this, whilst also adapting to a new working environment.
The award covers an in-depth study of the nutritional requirements for a healthy diet, the effect of diet on health, and the importance of hydration. The new qualification enables the trio to train other staff and volunteers in a range of Royal Environmental Health Institute Scotland (REHIS) accredited food and health courses, covering key nutrition messages and cooking skills.
Dr Rhonda Archibald, Health Improvement (Nutrition) Lead, said: ‘‘Staff development and up-skilling others in food and health is a top priority for the department so it was great to see the efforts of staff in achieving this. The Level 4 award certificates are just the start and will make a real difference to other staff, patients and community organisations who will be supported in food skills development.’’
