Training Success for Medical Physics

7

Our Medical Physics team is celebrating after being approved as a training centre by the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM) for its Clinical Technologist Training Scheme.

The accreditation is an important milestone for the department and means staff can now complete nationally recognised training locally, helping to build specialist expertise within NHS Forth Valley and support the future development of the service.

The IPEM Clinical Technologist Training Scheme enables trainees to develop the knowledge, skills and experience required to work safely and effectively within their chosen area of practice. The programme also supports consistent, high-quality training standards across the UK.

A key benefit of the scheme is its flexibility, allowing trainees to work closely with their Training Supervisor to tailor learning plans to their individual development needs. This means the programme can support both those entering the profession and experienced staff looking to formalise or expand their expertise.

The scheme also offers access to professional networking opportunities, continuing professional development support and a route to gaining the IPEM Diploma in Clinical Technology and registration as a Clinical Technologist.

The new accreditation will also help strengthen recruitment within Medical Physics, providing opportunities to attract graduates and experienced professionals seeking to develop their careers within a supportive training environment.

There are currently three members of staff enrolled on the training scheme, with a fourth due to join later this year.

The achievement reflects the department’s commitment to investing in staff development and creating opportunities for colleagues to build specialist skills while supporting the delivery of high-quality services for patients across Forth Valley.
