Tribute to Melanie as Colleagues Complete Mighty Hike in Her Honour

31

The ReACH Clacks & Stirling team was deeply saddened by the recent death of Melanie Wright, one of its longest-serving, highly respected and much-loved Occupational Therapists, following a brief illness.

Melanie worked with the service for 21 years, and latterly was their Lead OT. She oversaw the delivery of rehabilitation in the Clacks area providing great support to her sub-team of physios, OTs and Therapy Assistants, as well as supporting their Team Leads. Melanie had a significant impact on how services have developed over the years in the community and was always there with her calm, supportive demeanour and perfectly timed offer of tea and cake. Melanie’s ReACH colleagues are keen to honour her memory by recognising the positive impact she had on the team, the service and the many patients she supported throughout her career.

In support of Melanie and others living with a cancer diagnosis, several members of the team took part in this year’s Rob Roy Mighty Hike, walking from Callander to Aberfoyle. Through sponsorship for this hike and the whole team’s fundraising efforts, the team raised an incredible £5,500 for Macmillan Cancer Support in support of Melanie and her family. The event was both emotional and inspiring, reflecting the strength, compassion and camaraderie Melanie brought to her work every day.
