Unsung Hero Bids Goodbye

A community healthcare assistant who has delivered high quality care at home to patients with complex mental health needs, has retired after 40 years service.

Mary McMeekin began her NHS career on the Bellsdyke site and moved to the community mental health service in Falkirk in 1997. She then transferred to Woodlands with the rest of the team in 2016.

Mary has completed a course in BSL and received an unsung hero’s award in the 2014 Staff Awards. Colleagues describe her as a valuable part of the West team, always happy to respond and support her colleagues. They say they will particularly miss her personal ‘tool box’ always handy for a nail file, screwdriver, oil for squeaky doors, measuring tape, and needle and thread.

Mary has many interests including badminton and foreign holidays. She keeps very active and will no doubt not be sitting for long! She plans to apply to do volunteer driving.

On behalf of the service we would like to say a huge thank you to her and wish her well.
