After an incredible 46 years of NHS service, Carol Kirkpatrick finally hangs up her uniform on Friday 23 January.
Carol began her career as a teenager, training at the old Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, where she earned her pelican wings and launched a vocation that would take her far beyond Edinburgh. Over the decades, her NHS journey has been nothing short of remarkable, with posts spanning Guernsey, Ireland, and even the Isle of Coll.
Starting out in Ophthalmology at the Edinburgh Royal, Carol’s career evolved to include her role as a Care Home Advanced Nurse Practitioner in Stirling. She was also part of the original cohort of ACE students, going on to become a trusted mentor, colleague, and friend to so many who worked alongside her.
Selfishly, we will miss her hugely, but with retirement calling her to the ski slopes and golf courses, we wish Carol every happiness in this exciting next chapter.
