Noelle Mackay, Employability Manager

Tell us a little about your job – what exact is an Employability Manager?

Employability is about widening access to employment through working with partners and engaging with communities to promote NHS FV as employer of choice. There is a particular focus in Employability on supporting people with real or perceived barriers to into employment but broadly it’s about making sure that anyone who is interested in working for the NHS can be supported to access opportunities for employment, apprenticeships, work experience and career pathways within the NHS.

What attracted you to work in Forth Valley?

I wanted to work within FV as this was new role so presented the opportunity to create something new and to learn about and work with new communities and projects. My role will range across the Board area so there is also the opportunity to get out and about in a very attractive part of Scotland.

Your favourite breakfast?

A very large Coffee and a soft Bacon Roll with a tattie scone – or anywhere sunny any local specialty and coffee.

What is your best – and worst quality?

I’m enthusiastic and like to get things done. This can also be annoying! My family claim that “When mum declutters everyone suffers”.

If you could change one thing in your life what would it be?

Smaller feet! I would love to wear glamorous shoes.

The pet hate which makes your heckles rise

Wooden cutlery. I really don’t like the feel of it – it gives me the heebie jeebies! I always carry a spork just in case.

The film you could watch time and time again?

The Godfather/The Empire Strikes Back.

A song that means the most to you?

Lets stick together by Al Green – wedding song and Superstition by Stevie Wonder – always lifts my mood. Right now in my house is essential that I say its anything by Taylor Swift – working through the albums with my daughter in preparation for the Murrayfield concert.

Happiest moment that you will cherish for ever?

Having my children – remembering the early years keeps me going through the teenage years!

Who is the person who has influenced you most?

No one person – I’ve worked with many great colleagues over the years, and I have learned from all of them.
